Proposal Formula1 Medals

During 2008 Formula 1 season Bernie Ecclestone, then F1 boss, emerged a new topic about the championship scoring system and the possibility of turning points into medals to rank the firsts positions. In that way pilots should risk more in order to win as the pilot with more gold medals would take the championship.

Our idea was a complex medal with a hidden clipping system inside, allowing to snap it to the racing suit once on the podium.

The medal itself was a very simple design, rounded shaped and highly recognizable, thought to be collected and displayed together.

Made of aluminum and stainless steel and 2 carbon fiber rings with tinted resin, the front face should mirror the holder with its polished surface and the race position engraved. The back face would be engraved with the circuit info and a two tone photo.

This medal was never proposed to F1 but as we created this concept and we did such an accomplished prototype we couldn’t help to share it.
